Keohane has signed a one-year extension after moving to Leeside at the beginning of the current season.
Cork City have made their third major re-signing in a week with the announcement the versatile midfielder Jimmy Keohane signed a new contract for 2018 with the Rebel Army.
The 26-year-old joins his fellow midfielders Gearóid Morrissey and Conor McCormack in pledging his future to the champions as they prepare to make a tilt for a league and cup double next Sunday.
Keohane signed for the Leesiders from Sligo Rovers ahead of the current season and has filled a variety of positions for John Caulfield's side including his preferred central midfield berth.
The Kilkenny native has made 43 appearances in all competitions during his debut season, including 29 in the league, and scored three league goals.
“It’s been a fantastic season,” Keohane told the club's official website.
“Winning the league was great and we want to build on that for next year. Getting to the cup final is another big game for us and we want to carry the momentum of winning the league into that game.
“Personally, I am really pleased with the season. I knew coming down here that it would be a competitive squad, which it was, and I am delighted that I played a lot of games.
“I played in a number of positions, which I enjoyed. I feel like I can still offer a lot more to the team and, going into next year, there are some things I know I can definitely improve on and help the team.
“The Europa League was a wonderful experience, to travel around Europe playing the best teams from other leagues, and the Champions League is going to be another step up again, which I am really looking forward to.”
Caulfield added: “We are delighted that Jimmy has committed to the club for next season. As people will have seen, he is very versatile and has played in numerous positions even though, to be fair to him, the centre of midfield is his natural position.
“With his energy, his skill and his workrate, he has been a fantastic signing for us. When you come into a new club, it takes time to settle in and I think, next year, we will see the best of Jimmy Keohane.”
Keohane native played underage football with Evergreen before entering the League of Ireland with Wexford Youths in 2009.
After a season-and-a-half with Youths, he signed for English league club Bristol City, but failed to make a breakthrough and moved to Exeter City the following.
He spent four seasons with Exeter, followed by six months with non-league Woking, before returning to Ireland to join Sligo at the beginning of the 2016 season.
