The former Cork City striker made his international debut off the bench in this month's 2-0 defeat of Moldova.

Watch: Sean Maguire gives Denmark warning with spectacular solo goal
Published: October 30, 2017

Sean Maguire bagged a spectacular fourth goal of the season for Preston North End on Saturday but couldn't prevents his side falling to a 3-2 defeat to Brentford at Deepdale.

The former Cork City striker continued his outstanding form in the calendar year 2017 as he scored his side's equaliser four minutes before half time on his return from injury.

Picking the ball up wide on the left, Maguire dashed inside and left two defenders for dead before coolly slotting the ball past goalkeeper Daniel Bentley.

Martin O'Neill in particular will have noticed the ease with which Maguire left the Danish international right-back Henrik Dalsgaard for dead on the way.

With the Kilkenny native in the squad to face Denmark in next month's decisive World Cup play-off, he could hardly have chosen a better time to restate his case for selection.
